TREK ITINERARY

DAY 1
Your guide will pick you up from your guesthouse at your preferred time. You’ll start your journey by walking along the river, then head uphill, crossing rubber plantations on your way to the entrance of Gunung Leuser National Park.
Once inside the jungle, you may have the chance to spot semi-wild Sumatran orangutans. Some of them are accustomed to seeing humans, as this trek is quite popular. You’ll observe them swinging in the trees and caring for their babies—an unforgettable sight that will stay with you forever.

As you continue trekking through the rainforest, you’ll take a break for a delicious tropical fruit snack before hiking uphill again to reach breathtaking viewpoints overlooking the entire Bohorok River valley and the vast expanse of Gunung Leuser National Park.
After a jungle lunch, the trek continues toward your overnight campsite. Along the way, you’ll discover incredible wildlife, including long-tail macaques, pig-tail macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, and monitor lizards.

Upon arrival at your campsite near a waterfall or by the riverside, it’s time to unwind. Enjoy a warm cup of tea or coffee, take a refreshing swim, and watch as your guides prepare a delicious dinner featuring curry, rice, and other traditional local dishes. After dinner, relax, share stories, or play card games with your guides around a cozy bonfire.
Spend the night under a jungle tent, protected by a sturdy bamboo frame covered with waterproof sheeting. Fall asleep to the peaceful sounds of the jungle.

DAY 2
Wake up to the serene sounds of the rainforest and enjoy a homemade breakfast in the heart of nature. After breakfast, continue trekking for about three hours while keeping an eye out for more incredible wildlife.
Enjoy lunch in the middle of the rainforest, surrounded by lush greenery and the soothing jungle sounds. Later, you’ll embark on another three-hour trek to your second campsite. Upon arrival, you can relax, swim in the river or waterfall (depending on the campsite), and enjoy the breathtaking scenery.
As evening falls, gather around the campfire for a traditional dinner while your guide shares fascinating jungle stories. Then, get some rest before another adventurous day ahead.

DAY 3
After waking up in the heart of the jungle, enjoy a final homemade breakfast at the campsite.
You have the choice to either relax at the campsite and visit a nearby waterfall or continue trekking for three to four more hours. This is an incredible opportunity to encounter the diverse primates of Gunung Leuser National Park, including the Sumatran orangutan, long-tail macaques, pig-tail macaques, Thomas leaf monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, white-handed gibbons, siamang gibbons, and slow lorises. If you’re lucky, you may also spot the elusive great argus or hornbill birds.

Following a final jungle lunch, wrap up your trek with an exhilarating tubing ride—known as the “jungle taxi”—along the Bohorok River, bringing you back to Bukit Lawang. Your guide will then escort you to our hotel.
